This track is unusual for me, because it’s an old tune redone.. It was originally a midi file I did about (gulp) ten years back, for the AWE 64 soundcard.. It’s still pretty fun to write for those old GM soundsets and try get something from them.. Anyway I decided recently to revisit it as an exercise in mixing/arranging.
Even though it came out ok, it’s not a very satisfying thing to do and I prefer the original I think. Anyone who has taken a demo into a studio will understand what gets lost sometimes..
There is something about those old 1M soundfonts!.. I recommend anyone who enjoys writing music to try writing for them once or twice. It makes you work harder, and learn more!
Anyway, you can judge for yourself.. here are both old (unfortunately not on it’s native card, but close enough) and new.
